Topic: Arise and Shine for Jesus Christ

Isaiah 60:1-2

Isaiah was one of the four major prophets of the Old Testament along with Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. As a prophet, Isaiah prophesied to the southern tribe of Judah, and to the city of Jerusalem. Isaiah warned the people during his day and time to turn from their wicked ways, turn from worshiping idol gods and to return to trusting, worshiping, and serving the true and living God. Isaiah had warned the people in his day and time that if they did not repent from their wicked ways, Isaiah sad that God was going to send a nation from the north(Babylon) to destroy the city of Jerusalem, and to take the people of Judah into captivity for 70 years.

Not only did Isaiah prophesied and warned the people of Judah , but he also prophesied to the other nations as well, warning them to repent from sinning, and to worship and serve the true and living God, or God was going to punish them as well.

The book of Isaiah is likened unto the Holy Bible itself. The Holy Bible has 66 books in it self, and the book of Isaiah has 66 chapters in it self.

The Holy Bible has two division. The first part of the Holy Bible is the Old Testament with 39 books that deals primarily with the law, and the wrath of God. The second part of the Holy Bible is the New Testament with 27 books that primarily deals with the love and the grace of God.

Likewise, the book of Isaiah has 2 division in itself with the first 39 chapter of the book of Isaiah deals with God’s judgement and His anger with his people, and the last 27 chapters in the book of Isaiah deals with God comforting and encouraging His people,

Now when Isaiah prophesied, He did not prophecy on his own. 2nd Peter 1:21 says, “For the prophecy came not in the old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” Isaiah prophesied by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 60:1-2 says, “Arise, shine, for thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is rise upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.”

This was a prophecy of Isaiah as He prophesied the church glory in the access of the Gentiles. In the Old Testament, to be God’s chosen few, one had to be born as a Jew. But in the New Testament, to be God’s chosen few, one must be born again. He or she must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Galatians 3:26, 28 says, “For ye are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus……There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond or free, there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

And since we are children of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we should “ arise and shine for Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ says in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

“Arise and shine, for thy light is come”, and the light is the Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ says in St. John 8:12, “I am the light of the world; he that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Why do we need to stand and arise and shine for Jesus Christ?

Because we live in a world that is so dark. We have many people who are living in darkness. And to live in darkness, is to live this life without hope, without peace, without guidance, without joy, or without love.

And we who have the light of Jesus Christ in our lives need to stand up, arise, and shine for Jesus Christ by telling everyone the good news of Jesus Christ. We need to stand up and live the life of Christ by the way we talk, walk, and to live for Him. You see, the only way people can be delivered out of darkness they have to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world, but for people to trust in Jesus Christ to be delivered out of darkness, we who have the light of Jesus in our hearts, must share Jesus with them by our witness, and by the way we live. So Arise and Shine for Jesus Christ today!!!

DIBALIK KRISIS ADA KESEMPATAN

Pembacaan Firman Tuhan: Yesaya 60: 1-7

Dibalik Krisis ada kesempatan.
1. Yesaya 60:2 Sebab sesungguhnya, kegelapan menutupi bumi, dan kekelaman menutupi bangsa-bangsa: tetapi terang TUHAN terbit atasmu, dan kemuliaan-Nya menjadi nyata atasmu.
  - Ayat ini membicarakan peristiwa yang bisa terjadi pada saat Krisis yaitu sekalipun ada krisis namun juga ada kesempatan untuk mengalami anugerah besar.
2. Krisis dalam bahasa Mandarin mempunyai 2 arti.

1.Bahaya.

2.Kesempatan.

1. Contoh:

1. - Nuh: saat krisis moral
  - Ishak: kekeringan
  - Yusuf: kekeringan
  - Daniel: pembunuhan
  - Yefta: krisis identitas dan kepemimpinan
  - Anak Rajawali yang digonjang-ganjingkan sarangnya.
Bangkit disaat Krisis.
1. Yesaya 60:1 Bangkitlah, menjadi teranglah, sebab terangmu datang, dan kemuliaan TUHAN terbit atasmu.
  - Ayat ini mengajak kita bangkit sekalipun sedang Krisis, karena dibalik Krisis ada kesempatan.
2. Maka jangan putus asa di saat krisis.
Bangkit dengan terang Tuhan
1. Ayat 1 dan 3.Ayat ini berkata bahwa orang-orang itu datang kepada terang Tuhan yang terbit atas kita, bukan kepada kita.
2. Sebab terang Tuhanlah yang bisa menerangi kegelapan/krisis yang sedang melanda dunia.
  - Artinya kita harus mencari hikmat dan pengurapan dari Tuhan untuk bisa melihat jalan keluar bagi krisis yang sedang melanda dunia.
3. Kalau kita bangkit dengan terang Tuhan, maka bangsa-bangsa dan kekayaan akan datang kepada kita (ayat 4-7).
Bangkit untuk menjadi terang.
1. Yesaya 60:1 Bangkitlah, menjadi teranglah, sebab terangmu datang, dan kemuliaan TUHAN terbit atasmu
  - Artinya kita harus bangkit untuk menjadi terang, menjadi berkat, menjadi alatnya Tuhan menerangi bangsa-bangsa yang sedang dalam kegelapan.
  - Kalau kita hanya bangkit untuk kepentingan diri sendiri, ayat ini tidak berlaku bagi kita.
2. Panggilan Tuhan untuk hidup kita adalah untuk menjadi berkat/menjadi terang.
  - Kejadian 12:2-3; Matius 5:14.
3. Kalau kita mau bangkit menjadi terang dengan terang Tuhan, maka kita pasti akan mendapat kesempatan menerima anugerah besar disaat krisis, seperti yang ditulis dalam Yesaya 60 ini. Contoh/kesaksian.

Marilah kita gunakan kesempatan dibalik krisis yang sedang terjadi sehingga kita justru mendapat anugerah besar.

JANGAN PERNAH PUTUS ASA

Baca: Mazmur 43:1-5

"Mengapa engkau tertekan, hai jiwaku, dan mengapa engkau gelisah di dalam diriku? Berharaplah kepada Allah! Sebab aku bersyukur lagi kepada-Nya, penolongku dan Allahku!" Mazmur 43:5

Karena tekanan hidup yang kian berat dan permasalahan yang dialami, banyak orang menjadi putus asa dan frustasi. Mengapa bisa terjadi?

Rasa putus asa muncul ketika seseorang mengalami jalan buntu. Celah inilah yang digunakan Iblis untuk menanamkan rasa putus asa dalam diri seseorang, sehingga dalam dirinya timbul rasa mengasihani diri sendiri (self pity) dan merasa sudah tidak ada pertolongan lagi. Kita tidak lagi mengarahkan pandangan kepada Tuhan dan mulai meragukan kuasaNya. Dengan kata lain kita putus asa dan menjadi tawar, merasa bahwa Tuhan tidak sanggup melakukan perkara besar dalam kehidupan kita, padahal firman Tuhan menegaskan bahwa "...semua yang lahir dari Allah, mengalahkan dunia. Dan inilah kemenangan atau pun rasa putus asa dimulai dari hati kita. Tertulis: "Jika engkau tawar hati pada masa kesesakan, kecillah kekuatanmu." (Amsal 24:10).

Rasa putus asa bukanlah karakter anak-anak Tuhan! Kita adalah lebih dari pemenang karena Tuhan selalu ada di pihak orang percaya. Daud, ketika berhadapan dengan Goliat, tak sedikit pun merasa takut dan gentar, apalagi putus asa. Dengan penuh iman Daud siap berperang melawannya. Bahkan kemenangan itu sudah ada di hati Daud sebelum peperangan itu terjadi. Hal ini bisa terlihat dari perkataan Daud di hadapan Goliat, orang Filistin itu: "Engkau mendatangi aku dengan pedang dan tombak dan lembing, tetapi aku mendatangi engkau dengan nama Tuhan semesta alam Allah segala barisan Israel yang kautantang itu. Hari ini juga Tuhan akan menyerahkan engkau ke dalam tanganku dan aku akan mengalahkan engkau dan memenggal kepalamu dari tubuhmu;" (1 Samuel 17:45-46a). Seberat apa pun masalah yang kita hadapi, jangan putus asa, serahkan semuanya kepada Tuhan. Jangan buang waktu dan tenaga pada hal-hal yang membuat kita putus asa dan lemah. Mari kita lebih lagi melekat kepada Tuhan.

Jika Tuhan ada di hati kita, kita tidak akan takut dan putus asa dalam keadaan apa pun, karena tidak pernah ditinggalkanNya orang-orang benar!

THE FOUNDATION OF TRUE FAITH

The only time God’s patience runs out with us is when we refuse again and again to accept how much he loves us.

Many Christians today have been turned back into a wilderness of their own making. They have no joy, no victory. To look at them, you’d think God had forsaken them years ago. No—he has simply turned them over to their own complaining and murmuring.

Thank God, Joshua and Caleb entered into the Promised Land. And they stood as green trees in God’s house until their dying days. They were men of power and vision because they know they were precious to God.

You also are precious to the Lord, in spite of your problems and failures. You can be a green tree in God’s house just as Joshua and Caleb were.

Simply stand on what God’s Word promises: “He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me” (Psalm 18:19).

That is the foundation of true faith!

Look Straight Ahead

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you”

(Proverbs 4:25, NIV)

What are you looking at today? Not in the natural, but with your spiritual eyes. In other words, what is in the forefront of your mind and in your heart? Are you constantly dwelling on your problems or things that have happened in your past? In the natural, you will move in the direction that your eyes are looking. In the spiritual, it works the same way. Whatever you focus your mind and heart on, you will move toward. That’s why today’s verse tells us to look straight ahead. If you are constantly dwelling on your problems or things in your past, wondering “what if,” then you will stay right where you are. But if you choose to forgive and release the past, then you can focus on what is ahead of you, and you’ll begin to move forward.

God doesn’t want you to live in the past. He wants you to keep growing and moving forward. Make the decision to meditate on His goodness and focus on His promises. Look straight ahead so you can see His blessing and move forward into the life of victory He has promised you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, today I set my focus on You. I choose to forget the past by forgiving others so that I can look straight ahead to Your promises. I ask that You direct my heart on the path of life that You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
